If you garner up any newspaper today you will find news about the swine contagion or the A (H1N1) everywhere. It is a subtype of human influenza virus which is the common cause of contagion in humans. The swine contagion is a respiratory disease in pigs that rarely spreads to humans, but this one is different. It is a strain never seen before in pigs or humans.

You see, pigs are hypersensitive to viruses that infect birds. The pig can be infected by more than one strain of contagion virus at the same time. The danger here is that the newly mutated form could infect another mammals. Therefore, the H1N1 could be a combination of viruses. According to the World Health Organization, pigs that are feat to be slaughtered are now monitored for the symptoms of the flu. Swine contagion protection has not yet been developed and this year’s contagion vaccine may not be effective. The caregiver drugs Tamiflu and Relenza appear to be sensitive to the virus if administered within the first 48 hours after the symptoms reveal themselves.

I pose the question, how can we learn to protect ourselves from ever contracting this flu? Let’s not move until we get it and then try to get rid of it. If you strengthen the immune system it will prepare itself for future challenges, not just the swine contagion or the bird flu. According to Wikipedia, Immunity is a biological term that describes a state of having sufficient biological defenses to avoid infection, disease, or another unwanted biological invasion. So, I pose the question to you again, how can we better protect ourselves from these viruses?
