Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in females. If it is not treated in early stages, it can be fatal. In metastatic breast cancer, the cancer cells traverse to other body part through various routes like blood and lymph.
Even worse is HER2+ breast cancer. HER stands for Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor. HER2+ breast cancer is very aggressive and spread at a rapid pace. The drug Herceptin has given
some hopes to HER2+ cancer patients.
In clinical trials Herceptin was found effective against such type of aggressive breast cancers; it has been approved to be used as an adjuvant in standard chemotherapy regime being used
for treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
